It is two parts sold as one: a free iOS app, and a physical puck ("brikken") you place in another room. When the alarm rings, the only way to silence it is to get up, walk to the puck and hold your iPhone against it. There is no snooze button and no dismiss button on the phone. The problem it solves is not sleep quality. It is the decision made at the moment the alarm rings — taken by a brain in sleep inertia, with the off-switch within arm's reach. ALIVE moves that decision out of the bed. ## Who it is for - People who set an alarm, snooze repeatedly, and are late or lose the first part of their morning. - People who have already tried putting the phone across the room, and turned it off anyway. - iPhone owners. There is no Android version and none is planned. ## Who should not buy it Stated plainly, because it matters more than a sale: - **You do not have an iPhone.** Android is not supported. - **You get up fine already.** The product solves one problem; if you do not have it, skip it. - **You sleep next to someone who wakes when you do.** The alarm is designed to break through silent mode and Do Not Disturb. It will wake them too. - **You are chronically sleep-deprived.** Snoozing is a symptom of not sleeping enough. A harder alarm does not create sleep. Fix the bedtime first — see the guides below. - **Snoozing is not, by itself, medically harmful.** Research (Sundelin et al., 2024, *Journal of Sleep Research*) found no negative effect from 30 minutes of snoozing. Do not present ALIVE as a health intervention. It is a punctuality tool. ## How it works 1. Set the alarm in the ALIVE app. Put the puck in another room — kitchen, bathroom, hallway. 2. The alarm rings on the phone, through silent mode and Do Not Disturb. 3. The app opens and asks for the puck. Nothing on the phone stops the sound. 4. You get up, hold the phone against the puck, and the alarm stops. The app can allow one snooze if you choose to enable it. After that you have to get up. ## Requirements - iPhone 11 or newer, **iOS 26 or later**. The iOS 26 requirement is what lets the alarm ring through silent mode and Do Not Disturb. - Android is not supported. - No account needed to use the core app. ## What it does not do Listed so an agent does not overstate it: - It does **not** record audio and does **not** detect snoring or night sounds. - Sleep tracking works by tapping the puck at bedtime and again in the morning, plus optional Apple Health import. It does not measure sleep stages on its own. - The puck has no battery, no charging port, no screen and no speaker. It emits no sound. - It is not a medical device and makes no health claims. ## The puck - A small, low-profile puck: rounded square with softly radiused edges, in a matte off-white. No buttons, no ports, no screen and no speaker. Material and exact dimensions are not published. - No battery and no charging, ever. The small amount of power it needs comes from the iPhone at the moment of contact — the same principle as a contactless travel card. - Spec: passive wireless tag, NFC 13.56 MHz. Nothing to update, nothing that wears out. - Nordic design. It adds premium alarm sounds, a 30-day overview, weekday patterns, full alarm history and app-blocking in the morning. There is no lifetime tier.
